Daniel is a Swiss-German MK (Missionary Kid) from the Amazonian town of Riberalta, Bolivia. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a child and has loved Him since. He completed high school and a mechanical apprenticeship in Langenthal, Switzerland. His first flying lessons were at Grenchen, Switzerland. Then he obtained his CFI at NAIA in Conway, South Carolina in 1988 and worked as a flight instructor in Spartanburg, SC that same year. He continued working on meeting the requirements to join MAF and married Christina van Gelderen. They went one year to the Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music in Michigan and served with MAF in East Africa from 1992 to 1994. Upon returning to Switzerland, Daniel worked as an insurance salesman (Swiss Life Inc.) and did weekend flying jobs towing gliders and flying tourists through the Alps until again there arose an opportunity to serve with Pacific Mission Aviation from 1999 until 2003. The family moved to Yap, Micronesia, now with three children in the meantime, Nathanael, Joel and Eliane. The next three years the family spent in Greenville, SC where he worked for Flight School and Airtaxi, flying mainly Cirrus aircraft until 2006. Daniel is now working for FlyCarolina and found himself not far from the Oubres, with whom he was acquainted since 1989. Thence the opportunity arose for Daniel to join Cutting Edge Foundation as a Board Member.
